Austin Lakes Hospital’s Program for Older Adults helps individuals enjoy their retirement years through exceptional mental health diagnostic services and treatment. Our distinctive services are thoughtfully designed and delivered to people age 55 and older who want to maintain their independence and dignity.
Located at St. David’s Pavilion, we provide inpatient services to stabilize symptoms of depression, anxiety, and other behavioral health disorders complicated by aging. We emphasize family involvement and communicate with healthcare providers to help maintain positive outcomes after discharge.
An Overview of Services
Our mental health diagnostic services and treatment are focused on the special needs of older adults. Mood disorders, major depression and anxiety, adjustment disorders of aging, cognitive and behavioral changes due to organic causes, and other psychiatric disorders are treated in a caring, supportive environment by a multidisciplinary team of professionals.About Our Inpatient Program
Our inpatient program provides 24-hour care for patients who need intensive treatment in a supportive environment. Comprehensive assessment and treatment may include individual and group therapy as well as family education. Medication management may also be part of the therapeutic process while we care for patients in the program. Our personalized treatment and after-care plans address a broad range of older adult needs, with specific consideration given to each patient. Regularly scheduled groups focus on grief work, coping skills, anxiety and depression education, cognitive therapy, spiritual care, stress management, problem-solving, communication, life review, health and wellness education, and relaxation skills.Patient Screening
A licensed mental health professional will conduct a pre-admission screening. Please note that the diagnosis of need for inpatient admission in Texas can be determined only by a licensed physician. People can self-refer or their health care providers may recommend us for an assessment.Program Features
